This month, we’re excited to spotlight Taylor, a talented PCU travel nurse who recently joined Access Healthcare LLC. Inspired by glowing recommendations from a former colleague, Taylor's enthusiasm has already made a positive impact on our nursing team. Check out her interview to learn more!
• How long have you been with Access Healthcare LLC and what made you choose us?
1 month: I worked with another Access Healthcare LLC nurse at my previous job, and she had nothing but great things to say about Access Healthcare LLC! She was such a great nurse and friend, so I trusted her input.
• What's the most exciting fall destination you've explored as a travel nurse?
I have yet to go very far but I am super excited to travel to New York (the city and upstate) with my family this month.
• If you could create one holiday, what would you create?
Yes Day! As long as it’s safe, reasonable, and fun, the answer must be yes.
• What was your dream job when you were a child?
My dream job as a child was to be a teacher or a pop star. I never considered being a travel nurse until I had already started college!
• What do you consider your most significant achievement in your career/life so far?
My most significant achievement is becoming a nurse. I had failed out just one semester shy of graduating. I went to another school, obtained my nursing diploma, then my BSN just 1 year after and am now actively working on my MSN to be a nurse practitioner.
• What’s one piece of advice you’d give to nurses considering a career in travel nursing, particularly regarding managing change and adjusting to new environments?
I have always been someone who hated change and loved my little bubble of comfort. However, I made a promise to myself that in order to grow as both a travel nurse and person, I need to take myself out of that comfort zone. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself grace. You will have both great and negative experiences as you would with any job, but now you have more freedom to explore and travel while working the job you’ve dreamed of always having. Stay open-minded and never be afraid to ask questions! Make friends, foster a pet (I’m currently fostering 2 kittens), try to rent an apartment rather than stay in a hotel (make it feel like home), and indulge in the experiences where you move to! I come from a small town and am actively living in a city and love it!

Denise Has Fallen For Change
Autumn is here! 🍁 Depending on where you live geographically, the leaves on the trees start to change color, the air is crisp (“sweater weather”), wildlife may begin their pre-hibernation, and folks may start getting into the pumpkin spice latte mode. Some people love this time of year and look forward to this change in season, whereby for others, autumn may not be any different temperature-wise; instead, it just spans for three months on the calendar and brings us closer to the end of the year. Whatever effect it may or may not have on people, there is, in fact, a common factor that autumn does bring about and that is CHANGE.
We live in a busy, fast-paced world where changes seem to occur quickly and often, we pivot to adapt just as fast as those changes take place. When do we, as humans, take time to slow down the pace and reflect on what may and may not serve us? That answer depends on the individual, but for now, let me take you on a reflective journey as the new season approaches and what change means to me.
I am a yogi—not a bear, but someone who practices yoga. During yoga practice, transitioning between poses is as important as the pose itself. It has the power and effect to bring about a host of feelings and changes: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. One of my favorite yoga styles is called Yin Yoga where one is often instructed to “let go” of what no longer serves us, to let go of what holds you down. When going through painful life events such as divorce or the death of a parent, holding on to the internal grief prevented me from acknowledging and accepting the change because it was way too difficult to admit and face. What I found through yoga, for instance, is that emotions are held in our joints...like the structure of a tree that is rooted in the ground. When holding a pose for an extended period of time, the connective tissues (tendons, ligaments and fascia) begin to soften, loosen up and increase flexibility to the joints which allows emotions to react, rise to the surface and fall like leaves from a tree, sometimes in the form of tears. It isn’t as easy to do as it sounds (trust me on that), but when it works and you have that “a-ha” moment, change presents a new meaning and life lesson for which I am grateful for.
Similarly, autumn is a good time for reflection, awareness, and mindfulness. It is a reminder that one’s body, mind and surroundings are always developing. The season focuses on the impermanence of life, emphasizing how important it is to embrace the present. By doing so, individuals can enjoy and be grateful for what they have before it is gone. Autumn shows us that everything in life is fluid and changing, and in order to move forward, we need to embrace the change. Thanks to the changing nature of life, every day presents new mysteries. The crisp air and colorful leaves emphasize these unknowns.
As temperatures drop to the tune of leaves falling, autumn illustrates the beauty of letting go. It doesn't have to be considered morbid or gloomy. It demonstrates that it is crucial to let go of the things that belong to the past. Trees lose their leaves, and it is both sad and beautiful, painful, and necessary, yet inevitable. Every fall, nature goes through this melancholy transition and bids farewell to the cheerful summer version of itself. Yet, it lets it go without regrets and welcomes the change.
The idea of letting go emphasizes the temporary nature of everything around us that you may become super aware of during the changing of the seasons. This is an important life lesson for us to remember. If we don’t let things go and we continue to dwell on the past, our personal growth stops, and we eventually find ourselves stuck in life. Once you can accept those unknowns, you may find you have more capacity to live life to the fullest.
