This travel surgical technologist story follows Jerrmain C., CST, whose eight-year stay on a single assignment is a rare example of loyalty, purpose, and genuine connection in travel healthcare.
When people talk about travel healthcare, they often imagine constant movement — new cities, new hospitals, new adventures.
But for Jerrmain, the journey took a different path. His experience proves that sometimes the best assignment isn’t the one that moves you around, but the one that becomes a place you can grow.
For more than six years, Jerrmain has been a proud member of Access Healthcare LLC, serving as a Certified Surgical Technologist in New Jersey. His career reflects excellence, resilience, and the meaningful relationships travelers can build with the right agency behind them.
This is his story.
Ten years into his surgical tech career and two years into traveling, a fellow CST introduced Jerrmain to Access Healthcare LLC. He took a chance — switching from a larger agency to a small nurse-owned company that was still in its early stages.
He never looked back.
“I have not regretted making that switch. I joined when Access was in its baby stages… and I’ve watched it blossom into this magnificent company.”
What convinced him?
If Jerrmain were a TV character, he already knows the title:
“The Traveler Who Never Leaves.”
It’s the nickname he gets at work — and it fits perfectly. Travel healthcare usually means moving from place to place, but Jerrmain found something different.
He’s stayed at this hospital for eight years, six of them with Access Healthcare LLC, because the assignment feels right. The team, the surgeons, the manager — they created an environment worth staying for.
“My coworkers are excellent human beings. My manager has been really good to me, especially as a traveler. As long as they’ll keep me, I’ll hang around.”
When asked about the “wildest” travel surgical tech moments, Jerrmain laughs — nothing really rattles him.
“I’m Jamaican. Nothing bothers us too much.”
Instead of focusing on chaos, he highlights complexity: advanced orthopedic oncology cases, diverse surgeons, new techniques, and high-acuity learning experiences.
And after a decade in the field, his biggest advice to future travelers is simple — and powerful:
Before his current assignment, Jerrmain gained experience at a hospital in Hackensack, and several surgery centers. Those early experiences shaped what he appreciates today — stability, excellent workflow, and a well-oiled OR team.
But the real travel in his life? Driving home every single weekend.
Even though his assignment is in New Jersey, his family now lives in Virginia. So, every week, every Monday, he drives to New Jersey and every Friday, he drives home to Virginia.
Why?
“Family is very important to me. I want to be with my wife and boys every weekend.”
He never takes a full week off between assignments — but he never sacrifices family time.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Jerrmain lights up when talking about his island.
He describes its beauty: Montego Bay • Negril • Dunn’s River Falls • Green Grotto Caves
He describes its spirit: Resilience • Unity • Strength
And its motto: “Jamaica, no problem.”
Even after the recent hurricane devastation, his belief remains steady:
“We will rebuild. We will recover. And we will be better.”
When asked about shoutouts, Jerrmain hesitated — not because he had too few, but because he didn’t want to forget anyone.
He highlighted:

From left to right: Lindsay, Diego Davis, and Danielle Doyle
“Danielle is my number one. She takes care of issues right away, listens, and makes you feel valued. She’s not just a leader — she’s a hero.”
“I recommend Access to everyone. I’m part of three different agencies, but Access is my number one.”
When he first considered switching agencies, it came down to one thing:
Human connection.
Diego promised to match his rates, and the founders’ authenticity sealed it.
“They were nurses in the trenches who had a dream. I felt I could identify with them. I chose to support the mom-and-pop shop instead of the Walmart.”
That decision shaped the next six years of his life — and counting.
When Jerrmain thinks of Access Healthcare LLC, he thinks of:
He hopes for one thing in the future — an in-person gathering of travelers and staff.
“I’d love to meet everyone face-to-face. We’re a family, and families should get together.”
